We are at a tipping point! The exponential growth of technological innovations and its confluence with recent policy shifts are paving the way for dramatic changes in how we deliver health care and influence health behaviors. We have already moved beyond traditional “telemedicine” solutions, to its integration with powerful sensors as part of the “Internet of Things”; its ability to incorporate predictive analytics and artificial intelligence; and soon its ability to leverage 5th Generation (5G) fixed wireless and mobile broadband networks. Where are we going with this digital connected care revolution? How might the convergence of these technologies impact the health of populations and begin to mitigate our greatest health challenges? And perhaps even more importantly, how do we begin to create viable models within our current work settings?
